1925 Citroen Cloverleaf
Andre Citroen was the pioneer of mass production in France, with his A type, introduced in 1919 and developed into the famous 5cv model by 1922. These simple and robust little machines had sidevalve four cylinder engines of 856 cc capacity, developing 11 bhp, and mounted in an immensely strong chassis with 2 wheel brakes fitted right to the end of production in 1926.
The project on offer is one of the comparatively rare drophead coupe models, still however with a stubby pointy tail. Restoration has been started, and all the woodwork in the body has been replaced, and the single door has been rebuilt. All the steel panels are present, but they will require attention; there are also two sets of wings, and two bonnets. The chassis has been stripped and painted, and the wheels painted and fitted with new tyres. The brakes and steering have also received attention, and the correct lamps, instruments, starter, dynamo and carburettor are included. Missing are the top panel to the tail, the seat and the windscreen frame, but the folding hood mechanism is complete.
This car is believed to have been imported into the UK many years ago, but has no registration documents, though it is thought that it should be straightforward to register the Citroen with DVLA.
Here is a great chance to restore an unusual varient of a favourite light car, as all the major parts are present and as the chassis and much of the woodwork has already been rebuilt.
