This is a remarkably original, sound and correct De Dion Bouton 8 hp single cylinder engine of 100 x 120 mm, similar to that fitted to the previous lot.

This 1908 engine has mechanical valves complete with the variable exhaust valve mechanism. It is complete with De Dion Bouton carburettor, No. 456, made under Zenith licence and a correct 1908 Bosch DU1 magneto, Paris made, No. 386075. Other original fittings include oil drain and priming cocks, porcelain HT insulator and starting handle with wooden grip. All the aluminium castings are in excellent condition, and with matching numbers; there is a small old repair to the water jacket.

Altogether a remarkably complete and original engine; a quick inspection reveals that the internal components show very little wear. This should be of considerable interest to the purchaser of Lot 803, or indeed any other De Dion Bouton 8 hp owner.
